Pop & Rock

The craziest party that could ever be…

Tom Jones, Stereophonics and The LostProphets. Whoever said that Wales was the land of song must have been thinking about Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Music is the life-blood of valleys culture. Since Thomas Woodward started swaying his hips on the stages of South Wales, the area has become just as well known for pop and rock as choral music. Local bands Stereophonics and Lost Prophets have joined the never-ending list of quality bands emerging from South Wales. A vibrant music scene suggests more to come.

And in the same way as you would traditionally expect to see Male Voice Choirs in your local Valleys Chapel, you can almost expect to see the next big thing practising in a local garage or playing a local pub. Well you never know…

Some great venues to try to catch stars before they are born:

Did you know?

Phil Campbell the lead guitarist of Motorhead was born in Treforest? Of course, he’s not the only long lasting rocker to come from the village – Treforest is also the hometown of a certain Tom Jones esq.
