Arts
Sonig
SONIG Youth Music Industry was launched by Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council Arts Development Unit in October 2000 at the Radio ONE-1 Live Fringe Festival in Cardiff. The project utilises the strengths of the music industry in Wales to support the personal development and learning needs of disaffected young people. SONIG provides opportunities for young people aged between 8 and 25 to create original music, participate in rock and pop and learn about and access the music industry, as well as supporting the development of a working music industry in Rhondda Cynon Taf as part of a South Wales cluster.
Plugged In
Rhondda Cynon Taf has its own music magazine produced by young writers, photographers and designers from the area. 'Plugged In' features exclusive interviews and reviews of both up-and-coming young local talent and major bands from the borough. All images used are original photographs taken especially for the magazine. Plugged In has been supported by SONIG Youth Music Industry and the Youth Arts and Digital Media programme, part of Rhondda Cynon Taf's Cultural Services Department.
