Get on your bike! - 26 Nov 2008

Get on your bike this winter!
There's an opportunity to get fit in the great outdoors at weekly cycle rides at Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare, and Barry Sidings Country Park, Trehafod.
The cycle rides at Dare Valley are every Wednesday up to and including December 10, 2008. Bikes will be provided free and beginners are welcome. If you'd like to part, meet in the Country Park's visitor centre car park at 10.30am. Cyclists should be back at Dare Valley Country Park by 12.30pm.
Sustrans, the UK's leading sustainable transport charity, is supporting events such as this to help people across Rhondda Cynon Taf get more active. Event co-ordinator Eleanor Rothwell, said: "Why not join this small friendly group for a leisurely cycle ride on the flat along the old tram road to Cwmaman? It's the perfect way to get out and about and keep active this winter."
The meeting point may change due to the current improvement works underway in the park, so before you set out, please call Eleanor Rothwell on 07887551303 or 01443 490206. Refreshments for cyclists will be provided in St Joseph's Church, Cwmaman.
Cycling for beginners led by Sustrans at Barry Sidings Country Park is 10am-midday every Tuesday until December 16. Bikes will be provided free and sessions are mainly on the flat, on traffic-free paths for people who want to try a bike for the first time or want to improve confidence. The length of the rides will suit the ability of participants. There will be more cycling sessions at both country parks in the New Year.
